With narrow and steep streets , small squares with fountains and houses where traditional Canarian architecture mixes with apartment buildings, the heart of Güímar is the Plaza de San Pedro . It is presided over by the 17th century church of the same name, with three naves and a tower in classicist style built in the 19th century. It is worth taking a look at the interior, with a tabernacle carved in wood, small side chapels and frescoes decorating the walls by the Cadiz painter López Ruiz.

Declared an Asset of Cultural Interest - with the category of Historical Site - the center of Güímar preserves noble mansions and historic buildings such as the Marrero Díaz family house, the Casa del Paseo or the San Pedro Abajo family house. The Town Hall is located in an old 17th century Dominican convent . You can also take a look at the homes on San Pedro Arriba Street, which have classicist facades with flat terraces, typical of the area. The urban center of Güímar is also an important commercial center . Volcanic maceration wine or honey from the region are souvenirs that never disappoint.

Other religious monuments to see in Güímar are the chapel of San Pedro Abajo or the Chinguaro Cave , outside the historic center, the first place of Marian dedication and pilgrimage on the island. Inhabited by the Guanches, legend has it that the Virgin of Candelaria - patron saint of the Canary Islands - was hidden there by the first Guanches converted to Catholicism in Tenerife. Today, this cave houses a hermitage and continues to be a place of pilgrimage for devout people.

Five kilometers from the historic center we find El Puertito. A small town , once a fishing village , today lively and touristy. Rock dikes protect small black sand beaches where you can take a dip from the wind and waves.

It is a natural area protected for its high ecological value and endemism.

In total, more than 290 hectares of lava flows that die into the sea in basalt columns, arches and volcanic tubes resulting from the explosion of the Montaña Grande , a volcanic cone 276 meters high with a crater 300 meters in diameter - which is prohibited to climb.

The Pirámides de Güímar Ethnographic Park and Botanical Garden is an open-air museum that includes six stepped pyramids, oriented towards the sun on key astronomical dates. The Park, twice nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award, includes several outdoor routes and specialized gardens, spread over its more than 64,000m2. It is also one of the five botanical gardens in the Canary Islands. 

Bodegas Ferrera was born in the 1940s, with the purchase by the Ferrera family of Finca Las Vigas, located 1000 meters above sea level in a unique enclave. Characterized by cultivating the vines in an ecological way, at Bodegas Ferrera they work every day to respect and preserve the natural environment that surrounds them.
